Germany Professional Internships
Take part in an unpaid work experience in Germany. Select from a range of internships that allow you to work abroad whilst developing your German language skills.
People who choose to do internships abroad do so for a number of reasons – they may want to improve their professional skills, experience life in foreign country, establish new business contacts, or simply meet new people. Whatever their reason, there is no question that an internship in Germany can offer many benefits to participants.
The Internships in Germany programme provides a unique opportunity to gain professional work experience skills and enhance your CV in an established German company. The internships take place in and around Berlin, are adept at providing interns with fulfilling professional environments that utilise their German language skills, and provide a stimulating work placement that embodies the rich culture of Germany.
Our partner organisation in Germany has an extensive network of companies that it uses to find our participants their ideal internship placement. These can include administration, advertising, architecture, charity organisations, event management, graphics design, IT, marketing, public relations, real estate, social work, tourism, and others upon request.
If you don’t have at least an intermediate level of German language skills then a language course can be arranged for you once you arrive in Germany.
There are a range of industries that participants on this programme can do an internship with, and requests for all placements in all industries will be considered. Final placements will be subject to an interview, and will ultimately depend upon your previous experience and language ability.
Placements are generally unpaid, although your employer may chose to offer a stipend
The Internships take place in local, medium-sized companies/institutions.
Usually 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday (there may be some weekend shifts depending on the industry)
At the end of your placement, on request you’ll be given a Certificate of Attendance as well as letters of reference.
If your German language skills need improving, you can enrol in an intensive language course which focuses on improving your listening, spoken and written German skills.
The language courses take place throughout the year and are structured on 5 different levels (moving from basic to more advanced levels). After your internship and placement has ended you will be tested in order to evaluate your language skills. All interns will be given a certificate.
