 *Please note, to be eligible for this programme you must be currently studying at university, and be an EU citizen.

Our Hospitality Work Experience in Spain programme was designed to immerse participants into a practical Spanish working environment. It gives you the opportunity to undertake paid work experience abroad, whilst throwing yourself into the Spanish culture and language.

Participants on this programme are given paid jobs in the hospitality industry in Spain. The jobs range from working in bars, restaurants, kitchens, welcome desks and so forth – all within popular resorts and hotels in Spain.

• Work experience in a Spanish hotel is a great opportunity to gain new career skills, put your language skills to good practice, and complement your university course. Unlike our Internship Abroad programmes, working in the hospitality industry gives participants the ability to meet and interact with new people every day.

This popular programme is open to all participants, regardless of how much Spanish they know. Obviously the more Spanish you speak, the easier it will be to get involved with your role and choose a job that suits your abilities.

Project life

WICEN works with a partner in Spain that provides hotel work experience opportunities in more than 300 hotels throughout Spain. 

You will be involved in different aspects of hotel work, and your roles will depend on your Spanish language fluency. You may be placed in a job that deals with maintenance tasks, or you may work in the hotel reception, or in a hotel bar/restaurant. 

• You will be expected to work 30-35 hours a week.
• You will receive a basic salary of 200 EUR / month.

This Hospitality Work Experience programme is aimed at participants who want to see more of Spain whilst developing their career abilities and improving their Spanish language skills. It has become one of WICEN’s most popular work experience programmes offering a cultural exchange in vibrant Spanish environments. The available placements at the hotels include:

• Kitchen assistant
• Room maid
• Waiter
• Bar person
• Reception (only with a high level of Spanish)
• Laundry
• Animator
• Maintenance
• General assistant
• Restaurant
• plus many more…

You will receive an orientation upon arrival by your hotel, constant support throughout your stay, a 24-hour emergency telephone number and a certificate upon completion of the Hotel Work Experience placement.

For participants who need to learn Spanish or want to brush up on their language skills, our partner in Spain offers Spanish classes in Seville that will take place before the work experience placement begins.

• Classes are from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
• You will have 4 lessons per day lasting 45 minutes each.
• All the language classes are in Sevilla, Andalucia.
• There are a variety of accommodation options available if you wish to take the course.
